The poster of the upcoming film Kala Hiran, which is based on the blackbuck poaching case involving Bollywood superstar Salman Khan, was unveiled on Friday. With the teaser launch of Kala Hiran around the corner, the film has already landed in controversy. The superstar's legal team has issued a notice to the makers, objecting to the alleged use of his name, persona, and events associated with the still-pending case.

Salman Khan sends legal notice to Kala Hiran makers

The makers are all set to release the teaser on June 21, 2026. However, Salman's team has sent a legal notice to the makers. Producer Amit Jani took to X (Twitter) to share the notice and wrote, "Salman Khan has started threatening people associated with the movie Kala Hiran by sending them notices." Producer Amit Jani also said that this is an alleged move to intimidate them.

According to the notice, Salman Khan has not authorised or consented to any such use of his name, persona, or events allegedly connected to him. The legal notice argues that the blackbuck case is still pending before the Rajasthan High Court and contends that producing a film based on the matter could amount to interference with the administration of justice.

The film blends genres like courtroom drama and crime thriller, and will showcase the famous rivalry between Salman Khan and the dreaded gangster Lawrence Bishnoi in a cinematic way. The film has been shot in several cities of Uttar Pradesh, including Sambhal and Moradabad.

About Salman Khan's blackbuck case

The blackbuck hunting case dates back to October 1998, when superstar Salman Khan and a group of Bollywood actors were accused of poaching endangered blackbucks near Kankani village in Jodhpur during the shooting of the film Hum Saath Saath Hain. Apart from Salman, Saif Ali Khan, Neelam, Tabu, Sonali Bendre, and Dushyant Singh were also acquitted.

The case has since seen multiple legal turns, with superstar Salman Khan convicted in one of the cases.

In 2023, Salman Khan also reacted to the blackbuck poaching case for the first time. The actor appeared on Aap Ki Adalat on India TV, where he mentioned that he has full faith in the Indian judiciary.
