Salman Khan's much-awaited war drama Maatrubhumi: May War Rest In Peace is currently facing delays. The film, which was initially scheduled to release in April 2026, is still awaiting a green signal from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). Amid the delays, recently, some reports claimed that the Salman Khan-starrer was scheduled for a CBFC screening next week. However, according to the latest reports, there has been no such development yet and the film continues to be in limbo.
According to Bollywood Hungama, a source told them, "I wish these reports were true. But with a heavy heart, I'd like to inform you that there has sadly been no update about its CBFC screening. The film is still stuck due to its China connection."
The report further stated that the makers are constantly in touch with relevant government officials to find a solution. After they find a solution, the CBFC is expected to pass the film, following which fans can expect Maatrubhumi to be released in cinemas. The process could happen within a few days or weeks, or it may take more time.
However, as of now, there is no development on the status of the film as it continues to be stuck. The report adds that Maatrubhumi's release date could be moved to 2027 if things don't move forward quickly.
The report adds, "As said before, it all depends on when the issues get resolved. If it happens sooner, the makers will definitely try to bring out the film in theatres in 2026 itself, though there are not enough vacant slots available. Or else, it'll move to 2027."
Amid the delay, Salman Khan's team had earlier in July shared a statement, debunking rumours of the film facing issues with the CBFC.
Notably, Maatrubhumi was initially announced as the Battle of Galwan. However, it was renamed earlier this year. Helmed by Apoorva Lakhia, the film is reportedly based on the 2020 conflict between India and China.
Alongside Salman Khan in the lead, the film also stars Chitrangada Singh and Ankur Bhatia in prominent roles.
