Following the sudden demise of Nana Patekar, actress Tanushree Dutta had been making some controversial statements and claims regarding the actor and his death. Now his son Malhar Patekar has reacted to the remarks surrounding his father's death. Nana died in Goa at the age of 75 after suffering a heart attack on October 8. In the days that followed, Tanushree made a series of remarks and even questioned the circumstances surrounding his death. She also revisited the sexual harassment allegations she had levelled against him years ago.
While speaking to Hindustan Times, Malhar broke his silence on the controversy although he chose not to engage directly with Tanushree. "Without naming anyone, I want to say that the case people are bringing up unnecessarily is already over. Judiciary se clear hua hain, case khatam ho chuka; phir bhi bol rahe," he said.
He further added, "Aise logo ko mein unko kuch nahi boluga; joh sach hai wahi rahega, bhagwan unka bhala kare, this is what I have to say to them."
For the unversed, Tanushree had accused Nana Patekar of sexually harassing her during the shooting of Horn âOk' Pleassss. Later in June 2019, Mumbai Police had submitted a closure report in court, stating they found insufficient evidence to prosecute Nana or support the allegations. Subsequently, the legal dispute was closed in 2025.
Following the news of Nana's death, Tanushree made several statements in public questioning what had happened. She raised questions about why no prayer meeting had been organised for the late actor and why people from the film fraternity had not been given an opportunity to pay their last respects. Notably, the actor's prayer meet was scheduled shortly after she made the claims.
Tanushree also claimed that Nana had staged his death to avoid legal proceedings. She further suggested that a DNA test could be conducted if he had changed his appearance.
Meanwhile, she faced criticism for an earlier remark wherein she referred to Nana as "evil dead" soon after the news of his death broke. She shared a video responding to the backlash, wherein she is seen defending her reaction. She went on to argue that his death did not erase what she alleged had happened in the past.
