Sonu Sood reaches Kathmandu to provide relief to victims affected by Nepal floods

Amid the devastating floods that hit Nepal recently, Bollywood actor Sonu Sood has now arrived in Nepal. The actor reportedly arrived in Kathmandu on Tuesday, September 1, carrying relief materials for the victims affected by the devastating catastrophe. The actor had also earlier expressed sorrow over the disaster through social media right after it happened.

Sonu Sood arrives in Nepal

Bollywood actor Sonu Sood, who is known for his humanitarian work, was seen arriving in Kathmandu to support victims of the devastating Nepal floods on Tuesday. He even distributed relief materials such as blankets and food supplies to those affected and assured continued assistance in the coming months to support affected families in rebuilding their lives.

Earlier, actor Sonu Sood had expressed his support on social media, pledging to help heal the wounds of Nepali citizens. "Nepal, you are not alone. We are coming with food, shelter and the strength to help you rebuild," he wrote. Several other celebrities had also expressed heartbreak and support to the affected people on social media.

According to IANS, over 1000 people have now been confirmed dead following the devastating floods that hit Nepal on August 26, 2026. Meanwhile, the bodies swept away continue to pile up along riverbanks in different districts.

The number of bodies retrieved has reached 1003, according to the latest update from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA). The NDRRMA added that as many as 3,916 people, including 583 foreign nationals, continue to remain out of contact.

The authorities said that search, rescue and relief operations continued in the affected district, noting that 279 people have been injured in the disaster. Details of the injured and casualties are reportedly being compiled as search and identification efforts continue

Meanwhile, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said a total of 158 Indian nationals had been rescued from the affected regions as of Monday evening. "Forensics team: The specialised forensics team from India continued its work in Kathmandu in coordination with counterparts from Nepal Police's Forensic Science Laboratory. They discussed the optimisation of various protocols and documentation," the ministry said.
