Palak Muchhal, Palaash's sister, has revealed that her brother's wedding to star cricketer Smriti Mandhana has been postponed. The couple planned to marry on Sunday in Sangli, Maharashtra, where the cricketer grew up. However, Smriti's father suffered a health scare and had to be admitted to the hospital, bringing the festivities to a halt.

Palak Muchhal confirmed the postponement

"Due to Smriti's father's health, Smriti and Palaash's wedding has been put on hold. We would request all of you to respect the privacy of the families during this sensitive time (sic)," Palak Muchhal penned on her Instagram handle.

Mandhana's father, Shrinivas Mandhana, reportedly became unwell while eating breakfast the day of the event. His condition immediately deteriorated, necessitating an ambulance and admission to the hospital. Her management revealed that she has opted to postpone the wedding indefinitely while her father heals. He is still being monitored, despite the fact that his condition is not considered critical.

Smriti's manager shared a statement

"Today in the morning, when he was having breakfast, Smriti Mandana's father, Mr Srinivas Mandhana, got unwell. We waited for a while. We thought that maybe it's normal, he will be fine. But he was getting worse. So we thought, let's not take any risk, so we called an ambulance and took him to the hospital. Now he is under observation," Smriti's manager Tuhin Mishra said on Sunday.

Complications did not end there: Mandhana's fiance Palaash Muchhal also had health issues, which led to his hospitalisation, though he is believed to have been discharged. In light of these developments, Mandhana removed the proposal video and other wedding-related information from her social media accounts. Fellow cricketers, like Jemimah Rodrigues, have also removed content from their Instagram accounts in response to the wedding postponement.

No new wedding date has been announced. Until then, Mandhana's family and friends, as well as fans, are left waiting and hoping for a speedy recovery and a smooth return to festivities.
