Former badminton champion Prakash Padukone has offered a rare glimpse into daughter Deepika Padukone and son-in-law Ranveer Singh's life as parents. In a recent interview with The Indian Express, Prakash spoke about his granddaughter, Dua Padukone Singh, and shared how the celebrity couple is navigating parenthood.
Speaking about the couple's parenting approach, Prakash described them as 'hands-on parents' and revealed that both are actively involved in raising their daughter.
Talking about the couple's parenting dynamic, Prakash said, "Of course, Deepika does a lot more, but Ranveer helps a lot whenever he's not working. Both families are also present to help."
Deepika and Ranveer welcomed their first child, Dua, in September 2024. Since then, the couple has largely kept their family life private, occasionally sharing glimpses of their journey with fans.
The former badminton star also reflected on how becoming a grandfather changed his perspective. He admitted that he never understood why grandparents were so attached to their grandchildren until Dua came into his life.
Prakash shared that whenever his granddaughter visits Bengaluru, he and his wife Ujjala make it a point to introduce her to everyday experiences that many celebrity children may not get to enjoy because of constant public attention.
According to Prakash, little Dua enjoys simple outings around the city. He revealed that the family often takes her on metro rides, auto-rickshaw trips and visits to local parks when in Bengaluru.
"She's a very friendly child, so she likes to mix with people. She says hello to almost everybody," he said while describing his granddaughter's cheerful personality.
Prakash also shared that Dua has already developed an interest in sports. "She's very fond of padel," he revealed, adding that she also enjoys watching trains near their Bengaluru home.
The proud grandfather noted that extensive travelling from a young age has helped shape Dua's curious and outgoing nature. "She's growing up quite fast and at a very interesting stage right now," he added.
Deepika and Ranveer, who tied the knot in 2018, introduced Dua to fans during Diwali 2025 after keeping her away from the public eye for several months. Earlier this year, the couple also announced that they are expecting their second child together, marking another exciting chapter in their growing family journey.
