The cast and crew of Ramayana: Rise of a Legend were seen attending the film's grand premiere in Los Angeles ahead of its global release. The invite-only 3D screening was held at the David Geffen Theatre at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures. At the sidelines of the premiere, Sai Pallavi, who plays Sita in the epic, was captured interacting with the international media.
During her interaction, Sai shared a much-awaited update on the sequel, Ramayana Part 2. When asked about the upcoming second instalment, she simply answered, "I haven't started filming yet."
For the unversed, Ramayana is planned as a two-part epic, with the first instalment scheduled to release in Diwali 2026, followed by the second instalment during Diwali 2027. However, recent reports suggested that the second instalment could face delays in the making. As a result, the release could miss the Diwali 2027 window and be pushed to 2028.
During the event, Sai also spoke about Ramayana's visual effects, its technical team and introducing Indian culture and epics to international audiences. "If you are curious about Indian culture and epics, this could be the start where you could see the best version of Ramayana that exists," she said.
The actress also reflected on the moral themes of the mythological epic, saying its characters could make audiences introspect and examine their own actions. She said, "As scripture, if you are a believer, you will see and try to introspect what is good and bad that exists in you, because Ravana is not all bad. It is important that we spot Ravana in us, and we make changes over time."
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra's Prime Focus Studios and Yash's Monster Mind Creations, Ramayana stars Ranbir Kapoor as Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Hanuman and Ravie Dubey as Lakshman. The film also includes an ensemble supporting cast of Anupam Kher, Kajal Aggarwal, Rakul Preet Singh, Vivek Oberoi, Kunal Kapoor, Adinath Kothare, Arun Govil, Indira Krishnan and Lara Dutta.
