Bollywood superstar Salman Khan could potentially be moving out of his iconic Galaxy Apartment into a new sea-facing home in Bandra, according to recent speculations. Although the family or sources close to the actor have not shared any update on the same, a new report now sheds light on the situation.
According to an India Today report, the said sea-facing property has been with the Khan family for more than a decade and it is not a recent acquisition. The property has come back in the news now since the Maharashtra Coastal Zone Management Authority (MCZMA) recommended the redevelopment proposal for the residential property recently. This development takes the property a step closer to construction.
The proposal was reportedly taken up during the authority's 198th meeting on June 16. According to the official minutes accessed by the portal, the project includes the redevelopment of a residential property in Bandra (West), where an old structure once stood. The old structure on the site has already been allegedly demolished after acquiring the necessary permissions.
Subsequently, the Khan family plans to construct a new six-storey sea-facing residence on their plot. The proposal has now received a recommendation from the MCZMA from a Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) viewpoint. The proposal will now move to the concerned planning authority for further approvals, subject to compliance with statutory conditions.
The authority noted that the property is within a CRZ-II zone. In zones falling under the category, redevelopment is permissible under existing regulations. Additionally, the authority also sought clarifications regarding land ownership, following which the project proponents submitted the required documents. Consequently, the proposal was recommended.
Notably, the development comes over two years after the infamous firing incident outside Galaxy Apartments in April 2024. Following the incident, the security around Salman Khan's residence was significantly tightened. Although some reports have suggested that the actor and his family could eventually shift to the new bungalow once it is ready, sources reportedly told India Today that the Bandra property has long been part of the family's real estate portfolio and is only now entering the redevelopment stage.
There is still no clarity on the construction timeline of their new home, nor has there been any confirmation that Salman Khan, with his family, will move out of their current home. For decades now, Galaxy Apartments has been synonymous with Salman Khan, drawing thousands of fans outside every Eid and on the actor's birthday.
