Samay Raina has seemingly put an end to speculation about his relationship status after casually revealing that he has a girlfriend. The comedian made the revelation during a phone call with Varun Dhawan on Koffee With Karan season 9, while the actor was participating in a game on the show.
During the segment, Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor had to call someone and make them say, 'Hi Karan.' Varun chose to call Samay and playfully pranked him about the recent buzz surrounding him, saying, "Poora news mein aa raha hai, tere saath woh ho gaya" (You are all over the news because of that thing). Puzzled by the remark, Samay asked, "Kya ho gaya?" (What happened?) Varun then added, "Arey, after the last episode, they are saying that you got this thing." Samay brushed off the teasing with a casual "Kuch na kuch aata rehta hai, bhai."
As Varun continued to tease Samay about the buzz surrounding him, the comedian remained unfazed, suggesting that he might have said something to spark the chatter. He then casually revealed, "At present, I am chilling with my girlfriend." Karan Johar, who was listening in, quickly reminded Samay that he was on Koffee With Karan. Samay then delivered the line, 'Hey Karan, it's me', to which Karan followed up and said, "See, this is how you should be on Koffee With Karan; now tell me more about your girlfriend."
However, Samay did not respond to Karan's remark, and Varun soon ended the call.
While Samay's casual confession has sparked speculation about his relationship status, the comedian did not disclose his girlfriend's identity. He has previously been linked to actress Medha Shankr, but both have denied rumours of being in a relationship.
Speculation about the two intensified after Medha appeared as a guest on India's Got Latent 2. A viral Reddit post also alleged that the alleged couple were planning to get married in December. Samay sarcastically responded to the wedding rumours on Instagram, writing: "December mein toh mera India Tour hai. Sorry, Medha will have to postpone" (paired with Lata Mangeshkar's song "Jhooth Bole Kauva Kate"). Medha reacted to his post with laughing emojis.
Despite the online buzz, neither Samay nor Medha has confirmed dating rumours. However, Samay's candid confession during the phone call has now revived curiosity about the speculation, but his girlfriend's identity remains unrevealed.
