Indian cricket player Smriti Mandhana's wedding to music composer Palaash Muchhal has been postponed indefinitely after the cricketer's father was rushed to the hospital in Sangli owing to a heart attack as reported by NDTV. The event was slated for Sunday, November 23, in her hometown of Maharashtra.
Mr Mandhana was transported to a private hospital in Sangli, where he is currently receiving urgent care. According to the reports, Smriti Mandhana and her immediate relatives hurried to the hospital as soon as they heard the news.
As of present, the family has said that Mr Mandhana's condition is stable and under surveillance, providing some comfort during this trying time. The wedding management officially told the media that today's event had been cancelled. It is unclear when the wedding festivities will resume.
According to Mandhana's manager, the player expressed her desire to cancel the wedding as her family was dealing with a medical issue. Tuhin Mishra spoke to the press, "Smriti Mandhana's father was not feeling well since this morning. He was rushed to a hospital in Sangli, and he is currently under observation while various tests are being conducted," Mandhana's manager mentioned.
"You know Smriti is very close to her father. She decided that until her father gets well, this marriage, which was supposed to happen today, is indefinitely postponed. Now he is under observation, and the doctor has said that he will have to stay in the hospital. And until he gets well, because we are also in shock, and we want him to recover soon," he added.
Smriti Mandhana and Palaash Muchhal planned a modest wedding ceremony on Sunday, November 23. The celebrations had already begun a few days before the major event, with traditional ceremonies such as Mehendi, Haldi, and Sangeet adding to the excitement. The couple added a lighthearted touch by organising a friendly Bride Team vs Groom Team cricket match, which brought laughter and cheer to the guests.
Several videos and photos from the couple's Bollywood-style pre-wedding celebrations have been released on social media in recent days. However, the pair will have to wait a bit longer before their wedding becomes official.
The couple, their friends, and family members arranged a large festive extravaganza that included a spectacular Haldi and Mehandi ceremony, as well as friendly cricket matches between the bride and groom's teams. But the remaining events have been postponed indefinitely.
