The supernatural genre is getting a folklore-fuelled twist with The Vvaan, as Sidharth Malhotra and Tamannaah step into a mysterious world shaped by ancient beliefs, forbidden forests and forces that appear to have existed long before them. The newly released trailer expands on the world introduced in the teaser, offering a glimpse at a fantasy adventure that blends folklore, action, romance, humour and supernatural intrigue.
Produced by Ektaa Kapoor, the film attempts to move away from familiar horror templates and explore Indian folklore through a contemporary, theatrical lens. Rather than leaning entirely into mythology, The Vvaan appears to build its own universe around a folk legend, with the trailer hinting at secrets, danger and supernatural forces lurking within its expansive world.
At the centre of the story are Sidharth Malhotra and Tamannaah, marking their first on-screen pairing. The trailer introduces their characters as they are drawn deeper into a mystical world where the rules seem to have been established long before their arrival.
While the exact nature of the mystery remains under wraps, the footage moves between an ominous forest, moments of action, fantastical imagery and quieter sequences involving faith and wonder. The contrast gives the film a larger canvas than a straightforward supernatural thriller.
The trailer also suggests that the film isn't relying solely on scares. Adventure, romance and humour appear to be woven into the narrative, making The Vvaan a fantasy entertainer aimed at a theatrical audience.
Following Bhooth Bangla, The Vvaan marks another major supernatural outing backed by Ektaa Kapoor. However, this time, the filmmaker is venturing into a world rooted specifically in Indian folklore and fantasy.
The film brings together TVF's Arunabh Kumar and director Deepak Mishra, with Kumar also writing the screenplay. Manu Anand serves as director of photography and visual director. The project is produced by Shobha Kapoor, Ektaa R Kapoor, Arunabh Kumar and Niraj Kothari.
The film's universe is also being expanded beyond the screen through The Legend of Vvaan comic book, which introduces audiences to the folklore surrounding the story.
With its mix of folklore, fantasy, mystery and spectacle, the trailer sets up a world that aims to bring an unfamiliar side of Indian storytelling to the big screen. Presented by Balaji Motion Pictures in association with TVF and 11.11 Production, The Vvaan is set to hit cinemas on September 25, 2026.
