The film industry has been suffering due to the novel coronavirus pandemic for the last one and a half years. Due to the lockdown, the shoot of many much-awaited films could not start on time, and on the other hand, the films which were scheduled for release in theatres, couldn't be released due to the closure of cinema houses across the country.

In the meantime, some films were released in theatres, amid the pandemic, but due to fear of social gathering, the theatres remained empty. While many films like Radhe and Toofan were released on OTT platforms and were successful.

Now that the nationwide vaccination drive is going on at a fast pace and the situation is expected to get better, many acclaimed filmmakers are preparing for the theatrical release of their films.

In such a situation, the year 2021-22 is going to be very special for the filmmakers as well as the movie lovers, as life has become very boring due to being tied up in the house for so long.

Today we tell you about the top 10 movies, which all cinema lovers are eagerly waiting for.

  1. Laal Singh Chaddha

Everyone is eagerly waiting for Aamir Khan's film Laal Singh Chaddha. Aamir Khan is called Mr. Perfectionist of Bollywood which creates a tremendous craze among the people towards his film.

Directed by Advait Chandan, the film will be based on the Sikh riots and the Babri Masjid demolition. The film is based on the Hollywood film 'Forrest Gump', which will feature stars like Kareena Kapoor Khan and Naga Chaitanya apart from Aamir Khan. The film will be released this year on the occasion of Christmas i.e. on December 25.

  1. Sooryavanshi

This was the biggest and much-awaited film of last year starring Akshay Kumar, who is known as the Khiladi of Bollywood. But, its release was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Apart from Akshay Kumar, the film also stars Katrina Kaif and Jackie Shroff. The action film, directed by Rohit Shetty, will feature actors Ranveer Singh and Ajay Devgan in cameo roles.

In the film, Akshay will be seen in the role of an ATS chief, while Abhimanyu Singh will be seen in the role of the villain, Vinod Thapar. The budget of the film is said to be 170 crores. Once the theatres are functional, the makers will announce their release date.

  1. Brahmastra

Everyone is eagerly waiting for Ranbir Kapoor's Brahmastra. In this film, he is sharing the screen with his actress girlfriend Alia Bhatt for the first time. It is being said that the budget for this film is around 300 crores, which will be the most expensive film in Bollywood.

Apart from Ranbir and Alia, the film will also feature megastar Amitabh Bachchan, Mouni Roy, and Akkineni Nagarjuna. It is being said that director Ayan Mukerji will release this film in two parts. The first part will come later this year.

  1. Ram Setu

Akshay Kumar's starrer 'Ram Setu' is a theological drama film. In the film, he will play the role of an archaeologist who unravels the mysteries of the Rama Setu between India and Sri Lanka. Actress Jacqueline Fernandez and Nushrat Bharucha will also be seen in lead roles in the film.

The film is being directed by Abhishek Sharma. The film will be released next year on the occasion of Diwali i.e. on October 14.

In this film, Taapsee Pannu, who has won millions of hearts of the audience through her hard work and dedication, is going to be seen in the lead role.

The special thing is that 'Blur' is Taapsee's first film, under her production house 'Outsiders Films', which is being directed by Ajay Bahl.

The drama thriller has been written by Pawan Soni and Ajay Behl and is currently shooting in Nainital.

It is being said that 'Blur' is the official Hindi remake of the Spanish film 'Julia's Eyes', which was directed by Guillaume Morales. The film will be released next year.

83, the film is based on the life of Kapil Dev, the captain of the Indian cricket team who won the World Cup in 1983. Ranveer Singh will be seen in the role of Kapil Dev in this film. At the same time, Deepika Padukone will play the role of his wife Romi Bhatia.

Apart from this, the film directed by Kabir Khan will also feature actors Pankaj Tripathi, R Badri, Amy Virk, Sahil Khattar, Nishant Dahiya, Dinkar Sharma, Chirag Patil, Tahir Raj Bhasin among others.

It is reported that the makers have spent around Rs 125 crore to make this film. Apart from Hindi, the film will also release in multiple languages like Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam.

'Lost' is a heart-hitting thriller film, in which stars like Yami Gautam, Pankaj Kapur, Rahul Khanna will be seen in the lead roles. The story of this film by Shyam Lal Sen Gupta and Ritesh Shah is woven against the backdrop of Kolkata.

'Lost' is directed by Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury, who has previously directed Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Panni's blockbuster hit film ‘Pink'.

In this film, 'Uri Girl' Yami Gautam will be in the role of a crime reporter. This thriller film is set to be released next year.

  1. Gangubai Kathiawadi

Alia Bhatt is going to be seen in the lead role in the film titled 'Gangubai Kathiawadi' directed by Bollywood's popular filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

The film is based on the life of Gangubai, who runs a brothel in Kamathipura near Mumbai. Apart from Alia, actors like Ajay Devgan and Parth Samthaan will be seen in the film.

The film is based on the book 'Mafia Queens of Mumbai' by popular author S Hussain Zaidi. In which her husband sells the main character for only 500 rupees. The film is slated to be released in theatres, once they are functional.

  1. Pathan

People have been eagerly waiting for the film of Shahrukh Khan, who is called the King of Bollywood, and the wait is finally going to get over through the film ‘Pathan'.

Apart from King Khan, film stars like Deepika Padukone and John Abraham are in the lead role.

Apart from India, the shooting of the film has also been done in UAE and Europe. Shahrukh will be seen as a spy agent in the film. At the same time, John will show his strength, essaying the role of the main villain. Directed by Siddharth Anand, the film will also have a cameo role of Salman Khan, which is set to release next year.

  1. Bhuj: The Pride of India

Ajay Devgan starrer 'Bhuj: The Pride of India' is one of the much-awaited films of this year. The film is based on the life of IAF Squadron Leader Vijay Karnik, a hero of the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971.

Apart from Ajay Devgan, the film stars Sanjay Dutt, Sonakshi Sinha, Nora Fatehi in the lead roles.

Directed by Abhishek Dudhaiya, the film can be seen on Disney+ Hotstar from August 13.
