Vidya Balan has completed 20 years in the film industry. She made her Hindi film debut with Vidhu Vinod Chopra's Parineeta, and since then, there has been no looking back for her. In her very first film, she had an intimate scene with Sanjay Dutt, marking her first such scene on screen. In a recent interview, Vidya revealed how Sanjay Dutt made the entire experience much easier for her.
During a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter India, Vidya recalled shooting the intimate scene in Parineeta (2005), where she played the role of Lalita and Sanjay Dutt portrayed Girish.
Recalling the day of the shoot, Vidya shared, "He (Sanjay) came to me in the morning and said, âVidya, I'm really nervous. I don't know how we're going to do this.' And I'm looking at him thinking, this is Sanjay Dutt (laughs). That in itself was something (laughs again). And then, he's so seasoned⦠he's telling me this - seasoned in every way (laughs). I couldn't resist that."
Vidya sensed that Dutt went out of his way to make her feel at ease before filming the scene. "But you know, it was his generosity. What he did was make sure I felt like he was nervous too, and that took the load off me. It was my first intimate scene, and I didn't know how to go about it. You almost feel like you're exposing a part of yourself when you do something like this," she said.
Vidya further revealed that Sanjay Dutt made sure she was okay after the scene. "I'll never forget at the end of the day, he came, knocked on my door, and asked, âAre you okay?' I said, âYeah, absolutely.' He kissed me on my forehead and left. And that's why Sanjay Dutt is Sanjay Dutt," she added warmly.
Earlier in the same conversation, Vidya also recalled an unpleasant experience while shooting another intimate scene. "I've had an actor who ate Chinese food and (winces) didn't brush. And then I had an intimate scene with him, and I was like⦠please! Do you not have a partner?" she exclaimed.
