Marvel fans are getting ready to return to the battle of Earth, and the early response to Avengers: Endgame Encore suggests that the nostalgia for the MCU's biggest saga is still going strong. The limited theatrical re-release of the 2019 blockbuster has opened its advance bookings in India ahead of its September 25 release, and the film has already attracted thousands of bookings within the first 24 hours.
According to the latest Sacnilk update, Avengers: Endgame Encore has sold more than 7,300 tickets on BookMyShow in the last 24 hours. The film has also recorded more than 155,000 interests on the platform, signalling strong curiosity despite the re-release still being more than a week away.
The upcoming release is a slightly edited version of Avengers: Endgame, which originally became a global box-office phenomenon. The 2019 film earned more than USD 2.7 billion worldwide and crossed the Rs 400-crore mark in India.
Endgame Encore will be screened in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. Based on the early booking trend, the film is expected to open in double digits at the Indian box office, with a projected first-day collection of more than Rs 10 crore net.
If it manages to achieve that figure, the re-release could set a new benchmark for the biggest opening day for a re-released film in India. The strong advance interest also highlights the enduring pull of the Avengers franchise, even years after the original film concluded the Infinity Saga.
For fans who already know the story, the re-release comes with some new material. Avengers: Endgame Encore includes four minutes of additional footage, a new post-credits scene and an exclusive sneak peek at Avengers: Doomsday.
The latter is particularly significant for MCU followers, with Avengers: Doomsday expected to bring together characters from different corners of the Marvel universe. Anthony and Joe Russo are returning to direct the upcoming superhero spectacle.
Robert Downey Jr. is also set to return to the Marvel universe in a new role as Victor Von Doom. Marvel Studios previously unveiled a special look at the character during D23, with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige, Downey Jr., Chris Evans and Hayley Atwell taking part in the showcase.
Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to release on December 18, putting the Endgame Encore re-release just weeks ahead of the next major Avengers chapter.
