Brad Pitt is officially stepping back into the shoes of Cliff Booth. The Oscar-winning actor is reprising his Once Upon a Time in Hollywood character in a new Netflix film titled The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth, with David Fincher taking over directing duties.

Brad Pitt back as Cliff Booth

According to Deadline, Netflix has announced that the film will receive a two-week global IMAX run beginning November 25 before making its streaming debut on December 23. The project brings together two of Hollywood's most celebrated filmmakers in an unusual combination, Quentin Tarantino has written the script, while Fincher is directing the follow-up.

Pitt first played Booth in Tarantino's 2019 film Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, which followed fading Western star Rick Dalton, played by Leonardo DiCaprio, and his loyal stuntman and friend Cliff as they navigated a changing Hollywood.

Pitt's laid-back but mysterious Booth went on to become one of the film's biggest highlights, earning him the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.

The upcoming film moves the story forward eight years and is set in 1977. The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth will find the former Hollywood stuntman navigating a very different industry from the one audiences saw in the original film.

The movie boasts an ensemble cast featuring Elizabeth Debicki, Scott Caan, Carla Gugino, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Peter Weller, Matt Grove, JB Tadena, Corey Fogelmanis and Karren Karagulian alongside Pitt.

Interestingly, Tarantino had initially considered directing the project himself. However, the filmmaker eventually decided against it. Speaking about the script last year, he said he loved it but felt he was returning to territory he had already explored, adding that the idea did not excite him enough to direct.

David Fincher takes charge

With Tarantino stepping away from the director's chair, David Fincher has come on board to helm the film. The collaboration is particularly exciting given the filmmakers' distinct styles and celebrated filmographies.

Tarantino is known for films such as Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill, Reservoir Dogs, Django Unchained and The Hateful Eight, while Fincher has directed acclaimed titles including Fight Club, Zodiac, The Social Network, Gone Girl and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. He has also made his mark in streaming with Netflix shows such as Mindhunter and House of Cards.

Now, with Pitt returning as the enigmatic Cliff Booth and Fincher bringing his vision to Tarantino's script, The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth is shaping up to be one of the most intriguing Hollywood releases of the year.
