British singer Lauren Bennett, best known for lending her vocals to LMFAO's global hit Party Rock Anthem, has died at the age of 36. The news was confirmed by her former girl group G.R.L. through an emotional statement shared on Instagram. No official cause of death has been disclosed.
Paying tribute to their former bandmate, G.R.L. members wrote, "It is with great sadness that we share the passing of our beloved Lauren. Our hearts are broken, and we cannot begin to express how deeply she touched our lives." They remembered Bennett as someone who brought "laughter, light and love" wherever she went and said her memory would continue to inspire everyone who knew her.
Born in Meopham, Kent, Bennett discovered her passion for music at an early age, performing in local talent competitions and pubs before appearing on The X Factor. At just 17, she moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in music, eventually becoming a member of the girl group Paradiso Girls.
Her breakthrough came in 2011 when she featured on LMFAO's chart-topping anthem Party Rock Anthem. The song became a worldwide phenomenon, topping charts in multiple countries and turning Bennett into an internationally recognised voice in pop music. She later collaborated with artists including will.i.am and CeeLo Green, further cementing her place in the industry.
Bennett later joined the girl group G.R.L., where she contributed to songs such as Ugly Heart and Wild Wild Love with Pitbull. The group endured tragedy in 2014 following the death of member Simone Battle and honoured her memory through the single Lighthouse, while also advocating for mental health awareness. Bennett remained closely associated with the group, taking part in reunion performances over the years.
Following the announcement of her death, fans and fellow musicians flooded social media with heartfelt tributes, remembering Bennett for her powerful vocals, warm personality and infectious energy. Her former bandmates described her as someone whose kindness and talent left a lasting impact on everyone she met.
Bennett is survived by her daughter, Harlow. While the circumstances surrounding her death remain undisclosed, her legacy lives on through the music she created and the unforgettable performances that made her a beloved figure in pop music.
