Months after bidding farewell to Stranger Things, Millie Bobby Brown and David Harbour are reuniting on screen for a brand-new Netflix series. The actors, who won hearts as Eleven and Jim Hopper in the hit sci-fi drama, are set to headline an untitled spy thriller that has already received a straight-to-series order from the streaming giant.
Created by acclaimed writer Jack Thorne, the series will see Brown and Harbour step into a very different father-daughter dynamic, this time playing estranged family members caught in a dangerous international conspiracy.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Harbour will play Matt Wolfe, a disgraced former FBI agent who now works as a security consultant. His quiet life is disrupted when his estranged daughter Rebecca, portrayed by Brown, disappears while on an FBI mission. Rebecca, determined to follow in her father's footsteps despite their fractured relationship, becomes the centre of a high-stakes rescue that forces Matt back into the world he thought he had left behind.
Netflix's Head of Scripted Series for the US and Canada, Jinny Howe, expressed excitement about the project, saying, "Jack Thorne's ability to find the deeply human story inside a thriller is unmatched, and watching Millie Bobby Brown and David Harbour reunite - this time as estranged father and daughter on opposite sides of a crisis - is something audiences are going to love."
The series will be executive produced by Thorne, Brown and Harbour, alongside Jake Bongiovi, Robert Brown, Joe Hipps, Patrick McDonald and KC Wenson. Production will be backed by A24.
The announcement comes just months after Stranger Things concluded its record-breaking run on Netflix. Earlier this year, David Harbour addressed rumours published by a UK tabloid claiming that Brown had filed bullying and harassment complaints against him, calling the reports 'false.'
Speaking to Variety, Harbour said, "I don't know if people have families and friends that you spend a lot of time with for 10 years, you occasionally get in arguments, disagreements. In families, it's OK because you're just in a disagreement, and then you come back together."
Brown also reflected on their working relationship, saying that over five seasons of Stranger Things, "our relationship became much more collaborative creatively" and that she had "a lot of gratitude" for the years they spent making the series.
Meanwhile, Brown is gearing up for another Netflix release, Enola Holmes Season 3, which premieres on July 1, while fans eagerly await her reunion with Harbour in their next on-screen adventure.
