Priyanka Chopra is expanding her Hollywood slate with another high-profile project. The actor has announced that she will star alongside Oscar winner Russell Crowe in the upcoming sci-fi action thriller Bluefly. The announcement comes as Priyanka continues to strengthen her presence in international cinema, with several major projects lined up.
Priyanka shared the news on Instagram on Thursday, keeping her announcement brief and writing, "On to the next." The film will be directed by Nimrod Antal, while the screenplay has been written by David Frigerio, William Eubank and Carlyle Eubank. The project has already generated considerable interest because of its intriguing premise and the pairing of Priyanka with Crowe.
According to the film's synopsis, Bluefly is set deep in the Congo and follows a grieving UN translator who becomes involved in a covert mission to recover a crashed aircraft that supposedly should not exist. As a Special Operations team travels upriver through territory controlled by militias, the mission takes an increasingly dangerous turn. The closer they get to the mysterious aircraft, the more they realise that bringing it back may have consequences.
The sci-fi thriller is being produced by Michael Jefferson for Polite Society, David Frigerio for Broken Open Pictures, Deborah Glover for G2 Dispatch, Arianne Fraser and Delphine Perrier for Highland Film Group, along with Vanessa Yao Guo.
Highland Film Group COO Delphine Perrier described Bluefly as a fast-paced entertainer with a complex narrative and unexpected twists. The makers are expected to take the project to global buyers, adding to the anticipation surrounding the film.
Priyanka's announcement also received support from her husband, singer-actor Nick Jonas, who reacted with fire emojis in the comments. Actress Huma Qureshi also showed her excitement, while fans flooded the comments section with praise for Priyanka's latest international venture.
Russell Crowe's involvement brings further star power to the project. The actor is best known for his Oscar-winning performance as Maximus in Ridley Scott's Gladiator, which won five Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Actor.
Meanwhile, Priyanka also has an ambitious Indian project in the works. She will headline SS Rajamouli's Varanasi alongside Mahesh Babu and Prithviraj Sukumaran. The film marks her return to Indian cinema after an eight-year gap and is currently in production, with a theatrical release planned for April 2027.
With Bluefly and Varanasi in her lineup, Priyanka continues to balance major international and Indian projects.
