Priyanka Chopra Jonas' upcoming Hollywood survival thriller Reset has hit an unexpected roadblock, with Orlando Bloom reportedly exiting the project just days before filming was scheduled to begin. The sudden development has left the makers looking for a new actor to step into the role originally planned for Bloom.

Orlando Bloom's exit creates roadblock for Reset

The casting change comes at a crucial stage for the film, which was gearing up to begin production this month. Chopra was previously announced as the lead of Reset, with Bloom set to play her co-star in the survival drama. The film is directed by Matt Smukler, while Jordan Rawlins has written the screenplay.

Reset follows a woman who wakes up alone in a remote wilderness, days away from civilisation, with no memory of how she arrived there. With survival becoming her immediate priority, she is forced to depend on a mysterious and charming stranger. However, she soon has reason to question whether he is really the person he claims to be. The story combines elements of survival, romance, suspense and deception.

When Bloom was initially cast, Smukler had spoken about wanting actors who could convey both attraction and suspicion. He believed Chopra and Bloom had the ability to make audiences believe in those conflicting emotions at the same time, describing their on-screen chemistry as undeniable.

Priyanka Chopra to find a new co-star and co-producer

The film was also expected to bring together the two actors as producers. Chopra's Purple Pebble Pictures and Bloom's Amazing Owl are attached to the project, alongside Jon Hoeber and Erich Hoeber's Fratricidal Films, Michael Lazarovitch's Chemically Altered and Matthew Rhodes' Rhodes Entertainment. Nadine de Barros serves as executive producer.

The latest development means the makers will now have to find a replacement for Bloom before the production moves forward. The reason behind the actor's exit has not been publicly disclosed, and it remains unclear whether the change will affect the filming schedule.

The setback comes as Chopra continues to expand her international slate. She was recently seen in The Bluff alongside Karl Urban and previously starred with Idris Elba and John Cena in Heads of State. She is also returning to Indian cinema with S S Rajamouli's much-awaited Varanasi, which stars Mahesh Babu.

Meanwhile, Reset remains in pre-production, with its latest casting change adding another twist to the film even before cameras begin rolling.
