Anne Hathaway is all set to reprise her role as Andy Sachs for The Devil Wears Prada 2. In an earlier interview, her co-star Meryl Streep revealed how the Oscar-winning actress pushed the film's producers to cast size-inclusive models. Reacting to the claims, Anne clarified that no models were removed due to this. In fact, it led to the creation of job opportunities.
During her appearance on Good Morning America, the 43-year-old Oscar winner was asked about her desire to see a wider range of body types represented in films. To this, she said, "It was this quick thing that happened on set, and now it's become a much bigger story." She further clarified, "Actually, I do want to mention some misinformation getting out there right now that people were fired because of the size inclusivity, and that just didn't happen."
She added, "Nobody lost their jobs; in fact, it created more jobs. It was just about making sure that so many different body types saw themselves in a moment in the script."
She explained, "There's a song that Lady Gaga wrote, and it's a beautiful, amazing song. Isn't it better when you see so many different types of bodies up there with that?"
Streep, in an interview with Harper's Bazaar in March, had said that she was surprised by how skinny the models on the film's set were. "Annie clocked it too, and she made a beeline to the producers about it, securing promises that the models in the show that we were putting together for our film would not be so skeletal! She's a stand-up girl," she added.
Twenty years after making their iconic turns as Miranda, Andy, Emily, and Nigel - Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci return to the fashionable streets of New York City and the sleek offices of Runway magazine in the eagerly awaited sequel to the 2006 phenomenon that defined a generation.
The film reunites the original main cast with director David Frankel and writer Aline Brosh McKenna, and introduces an all-new runway of characters including Kenneth Branagh, Simone Ashley, Justin Theroux, Lucy Liu, Patrick Brammall, Caleb Hearon, Helen J. Shen, and B.J. Novak.
