Ever since The Odyssey was announced, fans across the world have been excited to watch the film. With a star cast like Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Zendaya and Charlize Theron, it is definitely going to be exciting for not only fans of the director but also the actors, while seeing them in a completely new avatar. The film, set to release on July 15, is only a week away from releasing, India has been lucky to see Nolan, Damon and Holland visit Mumbai earlier today for the India premier of the film that is getting many fans excited.
While talking to fans and the media, Nolan, who is returning to India for the third time, said, "It's not the first time I'm coming to Mumbai, I've been to Mumbai but it is the first time I'm coming to launch a film. You're among the first audiences in the world to see this film. By the way, did you like the film?"
After a loud cheer, he went on to ask, "So, just quickly, who is better? Matt or Tom? Indeterminate. They are both fantastic."
Speaking about the joy of being in India, Nolan expressed, "It is a thrill to be in India. I've had the pleasure of filming here twice. Once in Jodhpur, once in Mumbai. Every time we come here, it is special. For many years now, I've always wanted to come here and launch one of our films and experience it with the Indian audiences who are some of the most enthusiastic and knowledgeable cinematic audiences in the world. So it's such a thrill to be here."
This marks Christopher Nolan's third official visit to India. He was last in the country in 2019 to film Tenet, accompanied by actors John David Washington and Robert Pattinson, who also stars in The Odyssey. The team spent nearly ten days shooting key sequences across India. Prior to that, Nolan visited in 2011 to film portions of The Dark Knight Rises at Mehrangarh Fort in Jodhpur.
The Odyssey is an epic fantasy action film written and directed by Christopher Nolan. An adaptation of Homer's ancient Greek epic The Odyssey, the film stars Matt Damon as Odysseus, the Greek king of Ithaca, and chronicles his long and perilous journey home after the Trojan War and his encounters with mythical beings as he attempts to reunite with his wife, Penelope. It premieres in theatres worldwide on 17 July.
The ensemble also includes Zendaya, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Charlize Theron, Lupita Nyong'o and Samantha Morton.
The Odyssey is the first movie to be shot entirely using IMAX's 70 mm cameras, and Nolan hopes that the film inspires fellow filmmakers, such as Sinners helmer Ryan Coogler, to follow suit.
