Kamal Haasan will reprise his much-loved character Senapathy in Indian 3, the next chapter in the acclaimed Tamil political thriller franchise. Director Shankar Shanmugham has unveiled the film's first poster, building anticipation among fans and teasing the return of the iconic character with the powerful tagline, "Senapathy is back with zero tolerance."
The announcement has shed light once again on the franchise, which follows Senapathy, a former freedom fighter who fights against corruption. With Kamal Haasan reprising his role, Indian 3 is expected to carry forward the narrative established in the previous instalments.
Sharing the poster on Instagram, the makers wrote, "Senapathy is back with zero tolerance. The resurgence begins in #Indian3 War Mode." The poster gives a powerful, warlike feel, with three riders depicting strength, courage, unity and the beginning of an intense battle.
Kamal Haasan's portrayal of Senapathy has remained pivotal to the franchise. For the unversed, the actor first essayed the character in the 1996 film Indian. The film also starred Manisha Koirala, Urmila Matondkar and Sukanya in key roles.
Besides Kamal Haasan, the Tamil film features an ensemble cast including Samuthirakani, Bobby Simha, Kajal Aggarwal, Siddharth, Rakul Preet Singh, and Priya Bhavani Shankar in key roles. Written by Jayamohan, Kabilan Vairamuthu and Lakshmi Saravanakuman, the film is expected to hit theatres in 2027. However, a confirmed update on the film's release is still awaited.
Meanwhile, Kamal Haasan was last seen in Mani Ratnam's film Thug Life, alongside Trisha Krishnan. The actor has several projects lined up, including Kalki 2 and Nelson's forthcoming film, tentatively titled KH X RK, alongside megastar Rajinikanth, marking their reunion after 47 years.
