Still from Salaar 2
Prashanth Neel's directorial Salaar: Part 1 - Ceasefire was released in theatres in December 2023. The film, starring Prabhas, Prithviraj Sukumaran and Shruti Haasan in the lead roles, emerged as a massive box office success. The project was always envisioned as a two-part film, and fans have been eagerly awaiting an update on the sequel. Amid this, rumours surfaced claiming that Salaar 2 had been shelved. However, the makers have now clarified that the film is very much on track.
On Shruti Haasan's birthday, the official X handle of Salaar shared a picture of the actress from the film, where she essayed the role of Aadya. Sharing the post, the makers wrote, "Here's wishing our coolest Aadya, shrutihaasan, a very Happy Birthday. Looking forward to Shouryaanga Parvam and seeing you back on the sets of #Salaar2."
The sequel to Prashanth Neel's film has been officially titled Salaar: Part 2 - Shouryaanga Parvam.
Earlier this month, Mid-Day had reported that the sequel was not expected to happen anytime soon. A source close to the production had told the publication, "The sequel hasn't even entered the discussion stage yet, let alone a shoot timeline."
The source further stated that Prabhas is currently juggling multiple projects, including Sandeep Reddy Vanga's much-talked-about Spirit and Hanu Raghavapudi's Fauji. "Prabhas will be managing Fauji and Spirit simultaneously for the foreseeable future. The fate of Salaar 2 will be decided only after the director wraps up his current project with Jr NTR and Prabhas' dates free up. That is likely to happen sometime in 2027," the source revealed.
Salaar boasts a stellar ensemble cast featuring Prithviraj Sukumaran, Shruti Haasan and Jagapathi Babu. The strong chemistry between the lead actors added depth and authenticity to the narrative, making the film a compelling watch.
Directed by Prashanth Neel, best known for the KGF franchise, Salaar showcased his signature storytelling style, blending high-octane action with emotional depth and intricate world-building. The film broke records with its Hindi TV premiere, drawing nearly 30 million viewers. After grossing over Rs 700 crore at the box office, Salaar also remained among the top-trending films on OTT platforms for over 200 days, continuing its successful run through satellite premieres.
