Actor Nagarjuna has revealed that he takes extensive precautions to protect his personal information from cyber threats. Speaking at the Suraksha Ka Tiranga Cyber Awareness Programme organised by the Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB) in Hyderabad, the Telugu star opened up about his concerns surrounding hacking and online safety.
Nagarjuna admitted that being a celebrity makes him particularly cautious about what he stores on his phone. He revealed that he does not keep photographs on his device at all because he is constantly worried about the possibility of someone gaining unauthorised access to it.
"I carry a phone, but I am always worried about who will hack into it," Nagarjuna said at the event. He further revealed that he changes his phone password every 15 days as an additional security measure. His precautions do not end there. The actor also changes his home Wi-Fi password every month or two because of concerns that hackers could potentially gain access to his network.
The actor explained that his approach to cybersecurity stems partly from his status as a public figure. He believes celebrities need to be especially careful because a compromised device could expose sensitive personal information. However, Nagarjuna also expressed concern about ordinary people, particularly senior citizens, who may be more vulnerable to online scams and cyber fraud.
Recalling his own experience with a potential scam, Nagarjuna said that he received a suspicious phone call around four or five years ago from someone claiming to be a bank official. The caller allegedly asked him whether he would be interested in investing in stocks and equities. Nagarjuna found the call unusual because he normally received such communication from his designated relationship manager. The incident appears to have made him even more cautious about unsolicited calls and online security.
Nagarjuna's comments come at a time when cybercrime, hacking attempts and digital fraud have become growing concerns for people across age groups. His decision to avoid storing photographs on his phone and his habit of frequently changing passwords highlight the extent of his personal precautions.
The actor's candid admission at the cyber awareness programme also served as a reminder that celebrities are not the only ones vulnerable to cyber threats. While public figures may attract greater attention from hackers, Nagarjuna stressed the importance of awareness and caution for everyone using smartphones and digital services.
His remarks offered a glimpse into the unusual measures he follows to safeguard his personal data, while also drawing attention to the need for stronger cybersecurity awareness in an increasingly digital world.
