Trisha
Actress Trisha has strongly condemned comments made by Tamil Nadu BJP chief Nainar Nagendran. The latter made a personal remark while taking a dig at actor-politician Vijay, who is set to contest the upcoming elections. The remark went viral, with many slamming the politician for its offensive tone and content. On Monday, Trisha issued a formal statement through her legal advisor.
During a political speech, Nagendran addressed Vijay's political ambitions and remarked that he should "come out of actor Trisha's house" to gain experience and succeed in the field. The comment came in response to Vijay claiming that his party would be a strong challenger in the forthcoming state elections.
"Poor man, he is completely inexperienced. First, he needs to come out of his house. Come out of Trisha's house first, then something can happen," he reportedly said- remarks that have ignited broader conversations about the use of personal references in political discourse.
On Monday, Trisha took to her X (formerly Twitter) handle to share a legal statement responding to the widely circulated comment. "Disrespect should and always will be called out," she wrote.
The actress' legal advisor, Nithyaesh Natraj, followed up with a formal statement expressing her disappointment.
"My client (Trisha) never expected that such a distasteful and inappropriate remark would be made by a person holding a high stature in the State's political space," the statement read.
It further clarified that Trisha has no political inclinations. "My client makes it very clear that she is not affiliated with any political party, nor does she intend to be. She has always maintained a neutral stand when it comes to politics."
The statement added that she wishes to be known only for her craft and not for any alleged political alignment. "Personal lives should never be made the subject of public commentary or discourse. It is expected that persons holding high positions maintain responsibility and equanimity in public discourse."
"It is requested that my client's name not be drawn into matters that do not concern her," the statement concluded.
