Actor Adhik Mehta is all set to return to television as the male lead opposite Hiba Nawab in the upcoming show Chudail Chali Sasural. In an exclusive conversation with mid-day, the actor spoke about his character, the brief break he took from television, his upcoming film, and the career advice that continues to shape his choices.
Talking about his role, Adhik revealed that he plays Aarav, a self-made businessman with a grounded personality. "The name of my character is Aarav. Aarav has this trait of being one of the charming personalities you can see on Indian television, and that is derived from me also."
Describing the character further, he said Aarav has built a successful restaurant business through sheer determination. "Aarav is a grounded and self-made businessman. I own a business empire titled Gujju Grills. It's a restaurant chain, and Aarav believes a lot in hard work. Whatever he has achieved building the empire of Gujju Grills, he has done with determination, honesty and lots and lots of hard work."
Speaking about the show's romantic track, Adhik shared that Aarav values honesty and transparency in relationships, he says, "When it comes to my love life with Urvashi, Aarav totally believes in living a very simple and authentic life. My relationship with Urvashi is very genuine and very transparent. He believes that understanding, commitment and genuine emotions are the foundation of every relationship." However, he hinted that the story takes a dramatic turn after the wedding. "Everything is amazing, but then there is an unexpected turn where, after I get married to her, I discover that something is wrong."
The actor also reflected on the time he spent away from daily television shoots after his previous show ended. "After my last show on Dangal, I took a break. It was a four-month break, but for one month I was shooting for a film, whose title I can't reveal yet. It is produced by Debguru Films with Gurmeet Chaudhary. We shot in Nainital for almost a month, and I loved everything about the experience the food, the weather and even the extreme cold."
Sharing what motivates him professionally, Adhik credited Bollywood star Akshay Kumar and veteran actor Jackie Shroff for inspiring his work ethic. "I am inspired by Akshay Kumar a lot. Jackie Dada and all these legends always say, 'Keep on working.' Dheeraj Dhoopar, who is family to me, has also guided me by saying, 'Please buddy, keep on working.'"
He concluded by saying that while choosing good projects is important, giving one's best is what truly matters. "Our duty is just to take the show, give our 100 per cent and do everything with honesty. The rest is the destiny of the show, the actors and everyone connected to the project. I believe one should keep on working, irrespective of the platform."
