Shagun Sharma's journey on Khatron Ke Khiladi 15 may have been short, but the actor says the experience pushed her far beyond her comfort zone. Shagun was recently eliminated from the Rohit Shetty-hosted stunt-based reality show after losing the elimination stunt against Jasmine Bhasin. In an exclusive conversation with mid-day, she opened up about facing her fears, dealing with injuries and the unexpected after-effects of the show.

Speaking about her mindset before performing the dangerous stunts, Shagun said she focused on doing whatever she could and turning to her mother for support when things became overwhelming. "I was just thinking that I will do as much as I can. And if I can't, I'll talk to my mom," she said, adding that her mother was extremely supportive. "And my mom was very supportive. She was like, Kittu, don't do it if you can't."

However, Shagun jokingly admitted that her mother's advice was not always the kind of motivation she needed. "I don't know why. What kind of a mom should say that? You're already scared and your mom is saying, Kittu, don't do it if you can't. God, please motivate me a little," she said.

For Shagun, participating in Khatron Ke Khiladi was particularly challenging because she does not consider herself a daring person in everyday life. "It was very scary. Because I don't have much daring in my personal life," she said. She revealed just how fearful she can be in ordinary situations. "I don't cross roads because I feel that a car will blow me away. And it's been years since I've not crossed roads. I need to hold hands if I'm crossing roads. Otherwise, I don't cross," she shared.

Against that backdrop, performing dangerous stunts was a huge leap for her. "So a person who can't cross the road, you're making him do things where his heart can fail," Shagun said. "So I feel that the fact that I'm alive is a win for me." Despite her fears, the actor admitted that she continues to replay certain stunts in her mind. "I forgot that it was like that. Because for me, it was just me versus me," she said.

"These are very scary stunts. And the situation is like, you're playing for your team or your people. But in the end, it's you in that spot. So sometimes it happens and sometimes it doesn't," Shagun explained.

She said she has continued questioning herself since returning from the show. "If I go back in my thoughts, I feel that I did what I did and why didn't I do it? So I'm always in that," she said. "Ever since I've been back from Khatron, I'm not making it up. I wake up at 5 every day. Either I'm getting nightmares or I'm overthinking why didn't I do that stunt."

One stunt in particular appears to have left a lasting impact on her. Recalling the vacuum stunt, Shagun said, "Because of that, I'm not able to keep the sheet on my face." She also revealed that the experience has affected her in everyday situations. "And two days ago, it took me hardly four seconds to open my lift. And I started panicking that oh my God, I'm stuck in the lift. And this never happened to me before," she said.

Shagun Sharma talks about injuries she sustained

According to Shagun, the effects of participating in the show do not necessarily end once the contestants return home. "It's not that it only happens to you when you're there. There are a little bit after effects of the show," she said.

The actor also opened up about the physical injuries she sustained during her stint. "I had a black eye. My whole side of the face was swollen," she recalled. "There was a stunt in which I fell face first. So it was all swollen. And I was not able to breathe from my nose for at least 2-3 weeks. I was not able to breathe from my nose," Shagun said.

She explained that the injury left her face badly bruised. "Because this part was all green," she said. Her injuries also affected her teeth. "So I got veneers. Because my front teeth were broken, almost. So my teeth were cracked," Shagun revealed. Describing the extent of the injuries, she added, "So all this happened. And here the lips were torn from above. Legs were very blue."

Despite the fear, physical injuries and emotional after-effects, Shagun looks at her Khatron Ke Khiladi 15 experience as a personal victory. For someone who says she would normally need to hold someone's hand just to cross a road, facing some of the show's most terrifying challenges was itself a testament to her courage.
