Ajay Devgn has finally made his television hosting debut with the popular show Crime Patrol. The Bollywood superstar has stepped in as the new face of the long-running crime show after Anup Soni. The makers of the show unveiled the first promo of the show in August.
The promo begins with Ajay Devgn discussing the current crime situation in the country, pointing out that in many cases, the person who commits a crime is someone known to the victim. He concluded the video saying, "Main rahunga aapke saath". The new season premiered on August 31 on Sony TV and is also streaming on SonyLIV.
According to a report by Hindustan Times, Ajay has reportedly signed a 15-episode deal with Sony to take over the hosting duties of the popular show. He has allegedly charged Rs 90 crore for the season, spanning across the episodes. The reported remuneration has also sparked interest given Ajay's reputed status as one of Bollywood's leading stars. However, there is no official confirmation regarding the exact fee being paid to the actor for the show.
Salman Khan has consistently been India's highest-paid TV host for his long-running association with Bigg Boss, which he has hosted for over 15 years. According to a report by Hindustan Times, the actor has reduced his fee from Rs 2.5 crore per episode to Rs 10 crore per week for seasons 18-19, which means his overall fee has come down by Rs 130-150 crore.
Amitabh Bachchan is reportedly charging Rs 15-20 crore per week for hosting every new season of Kaun Banega Crorepati, which takes the megastar's total amount to 100 crore per season. With his Rs 90-crore remuneration, Ajay Devgn now stands third on the list. Karan Johar is the highest-paid non-actor TV host, with his reported remuneration for the last season of Koffee With Karan exceeding Rs 25 crore. Filmmaker Rohit Shetty is reportedly next on the list, charging Rs 12-14 crore for the latest season of Khatron Ke Khiladi.
