Shehnaaz Gill catapulted to stardom with her stint on Bigg Boss 13, winning hearts with her fun-loving personality and candid nature. However, the actress has now revealed how she was judged and trolled for her personality, language and appearance. Shehnaaz also opened up about body image and why people should feel comfortable in their own skin.
Shehnaaz said she was heavily trolled for her Hindi, as she spoke with a Punjabi accent. "I was very trolled on Bigg Boss because of my body. I was also trolled a lot for my language," she said. She recalled being called "anpadh gawaar (uneducated)" because of the way she conducted herself.
She continued, "After I came out of Bigg Boss, I showed them that it's not a big deal to drop some weight. Seriously speaking, sometimes when I put on weight, I feel very proud. I feel like, âIt's okay. If you have put on four or five kgs, Shehnaaz, that's okay.' The changes are visible and it is up to us," she said and added, "If you are comfortable in your body and feel that you look good like this, it's okay."
Shehnaaz further questioned the obsession with having an hourglass figure and said, "Everyone is different. If someone starts a trend that healthier bodies are better, then that trend will take on, but someone has to start it."
Shehnaaz gained stardom after her stint in Bigg Boss 13. It was in 2015 that Shehnaaz began her modelling career and later marked her debut in a Punjabi film.
Her most recent theatrical release is the Punjabi comedy-romance film Singh vs Kaur 2, which premiered in cinemas on September 11, 2026, co-starring Gippy Grewal. While the 2013 original was a locally rooted romantic comedy, Singh vs Kaur 2 dramatically expands its world, taking the story across Punjab, Kolkata and Canada.
Before this, she received a rave response for her stint in Ishqnama. It is a period romantic drama that explores love, sacrifice, and humanity beyond borders. The film is set between 1981 and 1988 along the India-Pakistan border.
She was also last seen in Ikk Kudi. It's about a woman from a family of broken hearts who starts doubting her arranged marriage match and embarks on a quest to uncover her fiancé's mysterious past.
