During the latest Weekend Ka Vaar episode, filmmaker Rohit Shetty stepped in as the host in place of Salman Khan. He announced Mary Kom's elimination after she lost both her lifelines. In an exclusive chat with mid-day, the Indian Olympic boxer opened up about her stint, Love and Scout OP's closeness, and Priyanka Chopra rooting for her.
During her stint on the show, contestants such as Uditi Singh, Arishfa Khan and Mahhi Vij claimed that Mary Kom's contribution to the house was limited to cooking. Reacting to this, she said, "It's a strategy. Even the other contestants must have come prepared. I am strong in my field, and so many people know that. I never felt bad about it."
When Mahhi questioned her relevance despite her impressive career, Mary said, "She has worked hard and earned a name for herself in this industry. But my career is not limited to India; I have already made a name for myself at the global level. I didn't go there to compete or seek the limelight."
During this Weekend Ka Vaar, Rohit Shetty and Kaashvi Hiranandani questioned the bond between Love Gill and Scout OP. Sharing her views on their closeness, Mary Kom admitted that she, too, felt something was not right but had never doubted their intentions.
She said, "Even I felt that things were going wrong, but I didn't get a chance to speak about it. This might be normal in the show. I never found their intentions to be bad. Love does not mean being in close proximity all the time, and when people watch them from outside, it can look wrong."
Mary Kom opened up about the hardships she faced in the house, recalling her troubled marriage. When asked if she was open to finding love again, she said, "I cannot say that for now. There is no one in my life at the moment, and I don't know what will happen in the future. I am just relying on God's plan."
She also revisited the making of her biopic and expressed gratitude towards Priyanka Chopra for doing justice to her portrayal. The actress had also given Mary a shoutout upon entering the house. Praising Priyanka's performance, Mary said, "I really trust and believe that she could do justice to the role. The film industry can do anything. I belong to the Northeast, where the culture is totally different, and she is a quintessential Indian beauty. But she took on such a good role, and I felt very happy."
