In an exclusive conversation with mid-day, Bhaskar Bhatt, a close friend of Bigg Boss 19 contestant Farrhana Bhatt, opened up about the controversy surrounding her, the legal notice sent by her family, and the sides of her personality that haven't been shown on television.
Addressing the issue that triggered the legal action, Bhaskar stressed that the matter was quite critical as Amaal's aunt called Farrhana a terrorist. "See, it's not just about someone's aunt, it's about your integrity and your word, how you treat other people," he said. He questioned the channel's editorial choices, stating, "The channel also⦠they've emphasised and focused on only that point that Garry has said that. People are playing around with that word, which was told by her."
He criticised the lack of responsibility shown by those involved. "Whenever you comment in a public place or have an opinion, you have a social or moral responsibility to think before you speak. So, we saw that they didn't do that. And even after that, they didn't apologise or give any explanation."
Highlighting how assumptions are often made about minorities, Bhaskar said, "As you know, Farrhana is from Kashmir⦠she's from a small city. And as a Kashmiri Muslim, it's easy for people to think that if we say something like that, we'll be safe."
He explained why the family took formal action. "I think that's why, from their family, legally and very politely⦠if you make such a big comment to someone and you feel that you've made a mistake, then you should either come to the public and apologise for it or say sorry. That's why this action has been taken. This notice has been given. And it has been asked why you did this."
Even the channel was questioned, "The channel has also been asked, when the interview was released⦠why did you change that topic?" He added, "When it comes to yourself, it's very important for you to take this action⦠Now, the people in front of us have to keep their side. That is what we demanded."
Bhaskar believes Farrhana remains authentic. "Farrhana is genuine. She keeps her points in her own way."
He finds Tanya underrated, "Tanya is a little interesting⦠she is the way she is⦠And whenever she is with anyone, she is with Farhana."
Bhaskar wishes viewers saw more of Farrhana's emotional depth. "She should show that thing a little more⦠people really love that⦠inside her there is a small kid who wants attention and clarification." However, he feels the makers don't highlight those moments. "Whenever Farrhana has shown her side, the makers have not shown it in the episode." Still, he believes live footage reveals the truth. "It is live, and people see it⦠small moments⦠that is the best part."
Bhaskar emphasised her growing popularity. "People inside the house don't like Farhana at all. But outside⦠she has got so much love." He added, "Her journey started with 43,000 followers. Now she has reached 13 lakh and growing, people have given her love by seeing her stand, her uniqueness."
