Rohit Shetty-hosted Khatron Ke Khiladi 15 has lived up to its tagline, âDarr Ka Naya Daur', and every week, the stunts are getting more challenging yet brutal. Recently, the show was under scrutiny after a pellet gun task left Gaurav Khanna severely injured, raising concerns over safety. Now, this week saw another endurance task where hot wax was being poured. After the task was aired, contestants strongly reacted to it; some even called this season âbrutal'.
This time around, during the âpain auction', four contestants - Rubina Dilaik, Ruhaanika Dhawan, Harsh Gujral and Vishal Aditya Singh - had to endure hot molten wax during the task. The contestant who collected hot wax on their hands for 10 minutes would be safe.
Ruhaanika Dhawan broke down while performing the stunt, while other contestants also screamed in pain. Rubina screamed, "It's just killing. My soul has come out, sir." After Rohit announced that the flow of the hot wax would be increased, Rubina said, "Now, it's stinging, and those stings are unbearable. The wax on the layer is penetrating even deeper. The impact is killing." As the flow of the hot wax increased, Ruhaanika Dhawan aborted the task, while Harsh Gujral won.
The stunt led to a strong reaction from viewers on social media. "Sorry, but this isn't entertaining at all. This is genuinely so traumatizing. #kkk15," wrote one netizen, while another one commented, "A âpain auction' with pellet guns and hot wax on bare skin is just cruel and dehumanising. How did anyone think this was okay?" A third netizen wrote, "Wax stunt was just too much and unnecessary. KKK this year is pure torture," while another comment read, "They all should file a case against Colors."
A few days back, the show was criticised after a stunt involving 40 rubber pellets fired at contestants left several of them injured. Following that episode, Banijay Asia CEO Deepak Dhar addressed the criticism in a conversation with Hindustan Times, saying the show is ânot all brutal' and that every stunt is carried out under expert supervision.
Karan Wahi, who has participated in the show three times, explained that contestants are briefed extensively about safety measures before attempting a stunt. Avika Gor also spoke about the precautions taken by the production team.
