Former IPL chairman and businessman Lalit Modi has strongly denied reports claiming that he will participate in the upcoming season of Bigg Boss. Calling the reports "fake news", Modi said he has not been approached by the makers of Bigg Boss 20 and has no intention of joining the Salman Khan-hosted reality show.
The speculation surfaced a day after several social media accounts and publications claimed that Modi had been confirmed as one of the contestants of Bigg Boss 20. With the new season generating considerable buzz ahead of its premiere, his alleged participation quickly became a talking point among fans.
Reacting to the reports, Modi took to X to set the record straight. He stated that he had neither been approached for the show nor agreed to participate in it. He also questioned how an unverified claim could be published as news without anyone contacting him for confirmation.
Along with his statement, Modi shared a legal notice issued by his lawyers, Hirani & Associates, to publications and social media accounts that had carried reports about his alleged participation. He urged those responsible to verify information before publishing such claims.
The legal notice described the reports as "false, baseless and mischievous". It clarified that Modi had not been approached by the producers, broadcasters, channel or any authorised representative associated with the programme. It further stated that he had neither consented to nor intended to be associated with Bigg Boss 20 in any capacity.
The notice also pointed out that Modi had not confirmed his alleged participation to any publication. His legal team maintained that the reports were published without verification or authorisation and objected to the use of his name, photograph, image and other personality attributes in a manner that suggested an association with the show.
Modi's lawyers have asked the concerned media houses and digital platforms to remove the reports and refrain from publishing, circulating or reproducing similar claims without first obtaining confirmation from him.
Meanwhile, Bigg Boss 20 is set to return with Salman Khan as its host. The makers have yet to officially announce the complete contestant line-up. The season is scheduled to premiere on September 6 on Colors and JioHotstar. A recent promo has already teased a new twist involving an additional "jeevan daan" or lifeline for contestants.
Several celebrity names have been linked to the show amid ongoing speculation, but no complete contestant list has been officially confirmed by the makers. Lalit Modi's clarification makes it clear that, contrary to the circulating reports, he will not be entering the Bigg Boss 20 house.
