Television actor Rohit Chandel has landed in legal trouble after being arrested for allegedly stalking and harassing a 16-year-old co-actor. Booked under the POCSO Act and relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the actor was sent to judicial custody. Police claim he confessed to repeatedly trying to meet the minor despite being blocked.
According to The Times of India, Vitthal Laxman Aardekar, Senior PI, Ghatkopar Police, said, "He was arrested and taken to court. The court gave him judicial custody. He was stalking. He is in judicial custody. It depends on the court how long it will be for. Rohit didn't deny it. He confessed that he used to go to meet her. The girl is a minor. They were co-actors. She said he was pressurising her. He stays in Dahisar, and he would travel to Ghatkopar. He would call her despite her blocking him."
Rohit Chandel was arrested by the Ghatkopar Police for allegedly stalking, repeatedly calling, harassing, and assaulting a 16-year-old girl in an eastern suburb of Mumbai. Police have booked the actor under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. As per the complaint, the accused, who is a resident of an eastern suburb, allegedly repeatedly called the minor on her mobile phone from his number as well as several other numbers, harassing her.
The complaint further alleges that on July 5, he confronted the girl near her residential building, chased her, picked an argument, abused her, and assaulted her by hitting her with his hands.
The police have booked him under Sections 78, 115(2), and 352 of the BNS, and Section 12 of the POCSO Act. The accused allegedly called her several times from December 2025 to July 7.
Rohit Chandel is a 29-year-old actor from Maharashtra. Chandel made his acting debut in a commercial advertisement after facing rejection in over 90 auditions. In 2014, he made his television debut with the BIG Magic series Har Mushkil Ka Hal Akbar Birbal in a minor role. Later, he appeared in several Hindi television shows in significant roles.
He rose to fame for playing Baji Rao in the TV serial Kashibai Bajirao Ballal. He is also known for his role as Dhawal Makwana in Pandya Store. He was most recently seen on the TV show Sairaab.
