Shresta Iyer's journey on Lock Upp: Sach Ya Sazaa came to an end as she became the first contestant to be evicted from the reality show. In an exclusive conversation with mid-day, the choreographer said she has no regrets about her early exit and admitted the show's environment wasn't meant for her. She also addressed being called a "nepo kid" and "dumb," spoke about her clash with Yogesh, and weighed in on the controversy surrounding Akanksha Chamola's exposed secret.
Reflecting on her journey, the choreographer said she has no regrets about leaving the show early. "I am not at all disappointed. I am very happy because as I entered, I realised that this show is not my cup of tea."
As the sister of Indian cricketer Shreyas Iyer, Shresta was frequently targeted inside the house and labelled a "nepo kid." She was also called "dumb" by fellow contestant Shreya Kalra. Responding to the criticism, Shresta said the environment inside the house affected her ability to think clearly.
"As far as calling me dumb is concerned, I was in an atmosphere where my brain stopped working. I realised that this is not my space. It's not giving me positivity; there were negative vibes around me, and I am not used to that. I was called dumb because of certain decisions that I took inside the house."
She added, "I take a lot of time to understand things because there are new people there, everyone's game plan is different, everyone is playing dirty mind games inside, and I can't do that. So maybe I came across as someone very dumb, and I think that's alright."
Shresta also addressed her fallout with fellow contestant Yogesh, saying she lost all respect for him after he repeatedly targeted her. She remarked, "He was obsessed with talking about me and calling me a nepo kid. I don't think he knows my journey."
She continued, "He said there are better choreographers than me who could have come to the show, and I completely agree. I respect and admire them. But Lock Upp is a show driven by controversies, and I believe I was chosen because of the controversy surrounding me over the past couple of months."
Before her eviction, Shresta witnessed one of the most emotional moments on Lock Upp when Shreya Kalra revealed that Akanksha Chamola is bisexual. Sharing her views on the controversy, Shresta said the secret should not have been used since it was overheard before the game had officially begun.
"I feel that if Akanksha had shared this with Shreya during the game and it was later used as part of a game plan, it would have been different."
She concluded, "But the game hadn't even started, and Shreya wasn't part of that conversation. She overheard Akanksha speaking with Ekta ma'am and later used it against her. That's why she's continuously apologising. She has even been writing 'I'm sorry' on tissue paper with her lip liner. Somewhere, she knows she did something wrong. Listening to someone's private conversation before the game begins and then using it later isn't right."
