Samay Raina's India's Got Latent 2 has landed in fresh controversy after a complaint was reportedly filed against casting director Mukesh Chhabra and Netflix India over allegedly inappropriate language used during a recent episode. The complaint, filed by Anurag Shrivastav, seeks an investigation into the alleged remark and also questions how the content was approved for streaming.
According to reports citing IANS, Shrivastav said he came across the episode while watching Netflix on his laptop from a hotel room in Mumbai on the evening of September 22. The episode in question featured actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui, actor and YouTuber Bhuvan Bam, Mukesh Chhabra, stand-up comedian Kaustubh Agarwal and host Samay Raina. The episode premiered on September 18 on Netflix and YouTube.
The complaint alleges that Chhabra was heard making a sexually suggestive remark during the episode. Shrivastav described the alleged language as "highly inappropriate, objectionable, and sexually suggestive" and called for the matter to be investigated.
However, the complaint itself acknowledges that the allegation requires verification. It reportedly states that the authenticity of the statement, identification of the speaker, the complete context and the exact timestamp need to be checked against the original and unedited recording. Therefore, the allegation has not been established as fact.
Shrivastav has also raised questions about Netflix India's content-approval process. The complaint reportedly seeks an inquiry into how the alleged remarks were cleared for streaming and asks that the role of Netflix India content chief Monika Shergill be examined. The complainant has cited concerns related to viewer dignity and child safety if the alleged statement is verified.
The latest development comes days after India's Got Latent 2 sparked online discussion over the same episode. The instalment featuring Nawazuddin, Bhuvan, Chhabra and Kaustubh received mixed reactions from viewers, with several social media users calling it boring or among the weaker episodes of the season.
The show has previously faced significant scrutiny. In February 2025, an episode of the first season featuring comedian and podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia triggered widespread backlash over his remarks involving parents and sex. The controversy led to legal proceedings and eventually resulted in the first season being removed from YouTube.
Season 2 of India's Got Latent returned in June 2026 through a collaboration between Raina and Netflix. The season is being simulcast on Netflix and YouTube, with new episodes released every two weeks.
As of now, the latest complaint concerns allegations that still require verification. Neither the alleged statement nor the context surrounding it has been independently established in the reports cited.
