Parineeti Chopra is stepping into the world of streaming with Shaque: Trust No One, a mystery thriller set to premiere on Netflix on September 24. The series revolves around a mother's desperate search for her missing child, but as the investigation progresses, the people closest to her begin to look increasingly suspicious.

Parineeti Chopra leads thriller

Created by Rensil D'Silva and Siddharth P Malhotra, the series marks D'Silva's directorial outing with Netflix and Chopra's series debut. Backed by Alchemy Films, Shaque: Trust No One promises to combine an emotional story of motherhood with a layered mystery, where trust becomes increasingly difficult to hold on to.

The central character has spent nine years searching for her missing child. Her determination to find answers eventually leads her into a maze of secrets and complicated relationships, forcing her to question whether those she has relied on all along may be hiding something.

The series brings together a sizeable ensemble, with Chopra joined by Soni Razdan, Jennifer Winget, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Harleen Sethi, Anup Soni, Dhruv Chowdhary and Sumeet Vyas. With so many characters surrounding the central mystery, the series appears to keep the question of who can be trusted deliberately blurred.

For Chopra, the project marks an important shift as she takes on her first series role. The actor has previously explored varied characters on the big screen, and Shaque places her at the centre of a story driven by grief, determination and unanswered questions.

The makers have teased a narrative in which revelations could alter the way viewers perceive the characters and their relationships. Rather than presenting a straightforward search, the series appears to build its suspense around the emotional toll of spending years looking for someone who vanished without answers.

A mystery full of secrets

D'Silva, who has created and directed the series, has previously worked across films and television, while Malhotra returns to Netflix after projects including Tribhanga and Maharaj. Their collaboration brings together a filmmaker and producer with experience in stories rooted in complex personal relationships.

The title itself offers a clue to the series' approach, with suspicion seemingly extending across the entire ensemble. As the mother gets closer to the truth, every relationship could potentially hold another secret.

With its September 24 release, Shaque: Trust No One is set to add another homegrown mystery thriller to Netflix's slate. For viewers who enjoy stories where clues, relationships and motives keep shifting, Parineeti Chopra's streaming debut could make for an intriguing binge.
