At the graduation scene, users pointed out that many characters sit with crossed hands. Fans have been linking this pose to Vecna's control. Additionally, twelve people wear sunglasses in the same scene, which many believe indicates the twelve victims needed to merge worlds.

Another detail includes a cameraman wearing a "Duffers" shirt who is filming the audience. Fans think this could suggest that viewers, too are part of the altered reality. Additionally, a dial on a prop changes colour between episodes, which fans have compared to Vecna's mind scenes.

Fans also noticed that the Watches worn by Will and Jonathan did not show any time, noting that dreams often hide time. Besides, a basement doorknob appears inverted in different shots, linking it to the Upside Down.

Why January 7?

Fans have been linking Stranger Things' secret episode 9 release date, January 7 ,to a Netflix teaser. The teaser video said, "Your future is on its way." This promoted a Netflix event revealing 2026 projects. Season 5 images appeared in the teaser.
