The Crime Detection Branch (CDB) of the Mira-Bhayandar, Vasai-Virar (MBVV) Police Commissionerate has busted a large-scale MD (Mephedrone) drug manufacturing factory operating from a farmhouse in Telangana's Sangareddy district.
According to the police, the officials seized narcotics, precursor chemicals and sophisticated laboratory equipment collectively valued at Rs 20.72 crore during the operation.
The investigation began on April 4, 2026, when Nayanagar Police raided a flat in Chheda Adarsh Building in Mira Road East and seized 1.324 kg of MD drugs worth Rs 2.66 crore.
Following the seizure, Crime Branch teams launched an extensive investigation and conducted multiple raids across Mumbai and neighbouring areas, including Mira Road, Agripada, Malvani and Manori.
Police had earlier arrested 15 accused and recovered drugs, chemicals and laboratory equipment worth approximately Rs 13.65 crore.
The investigation gained momentum after the arrest of three more suspects from Hyderabad, taking the total number of arrests in the case to 18.
During questioning, the accused allegedly revealed details of a secret drug manufacturing facility located on a two-acre farmhouse at Pichargadi Tanda in Zaheerabad, Sangareddy district, Telangana.
Investigators said the facility had been set up by one of the accused, identified as Nasir Sheikh, and was being used to manufacture MD drugs on a large scale.
A raid on the farmhouse led to the recovery of 3 kg of MD (Mephedrone) drugs, 2,293 litres of precursor and regulated chemicals, chloroform, acetone, monomethylamine and hydrochloric acid, laboratory machinery and specialised equipment used for synthetic drug production.
Police said the seized laboratory equipment alone was valued at Rs 6.22 crore.
Investigators believe the accused were part of an organised network involved in the manufacture, financing and distribution of synthetic drugs across multiple states.
Officials are now working to identify additional members of the syndicate, trace financial transactions and determine the destinations where the narcotics were supplied.
Police said the operation represents one of the biggest synthetic drug busts linked to the MBVV region in recent years. Further investigation is underway to uncover the full extent of the network and identify other individuals connected to the illegal drug trade.
