Following the incident, the police have arrested three persons and apprehended two juveniles in connection with the assault.
The victim, identified as Nagesh Nagtilak, is undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit (ICU) of a hospital. A video purportedly showing the assault has also surfaced.
According to the police, the incident was the result of an earlier dispute during a birthday celebration on October 14. The hostility between the two sides allegedly continued after the incident.
On October 25, at around 1.30 pm, Nagesh and the complainant, Hanif Khan, went near the accused's residence at Shivaji Nagar, Govandi. During the altercation, the accused allegedly demanded money from the duo, and when they refused to pay, the group allegedly attacked them, causing serious injuries. The accused also allegedly robbed them of R4900 before fleeing the spot.
The Shivaji Nagar police have registered a case of attempt to murder and robbery in connection with the incident and arrested three accused, while appropriate legal action has been initiated against two juveniles in conflict with the law.
