A private moment inside a residential lift in Andheri has spiralled into a police case after CCTV footage of the incident was allegedly spread across a housing society nearly three months later, triggering humiliation for a 36-year-old housewife and raising questions about misuse of surveillance systems in residential complexes. The woman approached the Sakinaka police station after residents allegedly mocked her in public over the viral clip, which investigators say may have been accessed and circulated by a person responsible for handling the society's CCTV backups.
Police suspect the footage was accessed from the CCTV backup system.
