In June 2019, a visit to a hospital for an X-ray of around Rs 1,000 cost a woman Rs 1.5 lakh, when she was robbed of her jewellery by two men posing as a doctor and a technician. The incident took place at Fortis Hospital in Kalyan. The victim was alone in the waiting area when two men approached her. They posed as a doctor and an X-ray technician. Police said when a relative of hers arrived then, they told him to wait there while they took her for the X-ray. The Bazarpeth police are still investigating the matter.

In April 2019, a person was arrested from Kalyan with a red sand boa — a non-venomous snake — (weighs 2.49 kg and 145 cm long) that is a protected species under the wildlife protection act, 1972. The Maharashtra Forest Department. trap and arrested Sitaram Pawar near Khoni Phata on Sunday around 5.30 pm. The snake was recovered from him and an offence as per the wildlife protection act was registered. The accused was produced in court where he was sent to three days police custody
