58-year-old found with throat slit in Bandra

The victim's husband fainted when he found her body in their apartment; cops suspect it was a robbery as valuables are missing


A 58-year-old housewife was found murdered in her home around 8.15 last night. The victim, identified as Nalini Chainani, was a resident of Madhuban building at Pali Naka in Bandra.

The victim's husband, who works in Vashi, was chatting with her via BlackBerry's messaging service till 5.30 pm after which there was no contact between the two.

When the husband reached home, he found her lying on the floor with her throat slit with a sharp weapon. According to cops, soon after the husband called them, he fainted from the shock.

They were both rushed to Lilavati Hospital, where she was declared dead on arrival.u00a0

According to a Crime Branch source, the officials suspect it was a robbery as valuables were missing from the house.

Cops said the couple were getting some flooring work done in the house and that the authorities would be questioning the workers too. The couple have two children who are in Australia.u00a0
