Mumbai Police on Wednesday said that it has made extensive security arrangements across the city for Bakri Eid 2026 on May 28 and deployed over 11,000 officials across the city.
According to the police, the festival will be celebrated with great enthusiasm across Mumbai, with large numbers of Muslim devotees expected to gather at mosques, dargahs and madrasas for prayers and traditional rituals.
To maintain law and order during the festival, the security arrangements have been planned under the guidance of the Mumbai Police Commissioner and supervised by the Joint Commissioner of Police (Law and Order).
Police officials said a large force has been deployed throughout the city to ensure that celebrations take place peacefully and without disruption.
The deployment includes 8 Additional Commissioners of Police, 21 Deputy Commissioners of Police, 61 Assistant Commissioners of Police, 1,980 police officers and 10,110 police personnel.
Special security units including the Riot Control Police (RCP), Anti-Demo Teams, State Reserve Police Force platoons, Quick Response Teams, Delta teams, Combat units and Home Guards have also been stationed at important locations.
Mumbai Police has appealed to citizens to cooperate with authorities and remain alert during the festive period.
People have been advised to remain calm in crowded places and immediately inform the police if they notice any suspicious or unattended objects.
Police officials also urged citizens to celebrate Bakri Eid responsibly while following all rules and safety guidelines.
Citizens have been asked to contact the emergency helpline numbers 100 or 112 for immediate police assistance during the festival.
Mumbai Police had earlier also issued a public advisory ahead of Bakri Eid 2026.
The advisory has been released to help traders, transporters, buyers and others involved in the legal transportation and sale of animals during the festival period.
Police officials said that people facing any difficulties while transporting animals through legal channels or at authorised animal sale locations designated by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) can contact the Mumbai Police main control room.

According to the police, traders, businessmen and buyers sometimes face issues during the movement and sale of animals ahead of Bakri Eid.
The officials have appealed to citizens to follow legal procedures and contact the helpline in case of any harassment, obstruction or other concerns.
