Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday said the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) will investigate the Disha Salian death case and that it is improper to engage in any kind of speculation in this matter. He said the court had directed that the matter be transferred to the CBI, and the agency subsequently registered a First Information Report (FIR); however, he stated that he had not yet seen the FIR.
On September 2, the Bombay High Court ordered a CBI probe into Salian's death while pulling up the Mumbai Police for failing to register an FIR for six years, observing that its investigation raises more questions than answers.

Salian died on June 8, 2020, after falling from the 12th floor of a Malad high-rise. A week later, on June 14, actor Sushant Singh was found dead in his Bandra flat, triggering a subsequent CBI probe into his death. Salian's father Satish named senior politicians, actors, and policemen who he believed should be investigated in the case.
