Over 370 colleges have students with pending eligibility: Mumbai University

Mumbai University on Wednesday said that the eligibility process of students from over 370 colleges was still pending.

It has directed affiliated colleges to complete the eligibility process of students admitted to undergraduate courses within the stipulated time, an official statement said on Wednesday.

The university said that these students had passed Class 12 examinations from boards other than the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education and were admitted to degree courses in the 2024-25 academic year.

Colleges asked to submit documents

Mumbai University has published a college-wise list of students whose eligibility process is pending on its website.

The university has also informed the concerned colleges about the pending cases through a circular and provided them with the relevant student lists.

Colleges have been instructed to verify the students' documents and submit the required paperwork to the Admission, Enrolment, Eligibility and Migration Certificate (AEEM) Department without delay.

Colleges told to complete eligibility process

The university has asked all concerned colleges to complete the necessary verification and ensure that the eligibility process of the students is finalised at the earliest.

Mumbai University said the process should not be kept pending, keeping in mind the academic interests of students.

Colleges to be responsible for RPV results

The university has warned that if students' results remain under ‘RPV' status because their eligibility process has not been completed, the concerned colleges will be held entirely responsible.

The university has appealed to colleges and students to check the college-wise list available on its website and submit any pending documents at the earliest to complete the eligibility process.

MU lifts ban on feeding dogs at Kalina campus

Meanwhile, the ban on feeding 94 dogs living on the 280-acre Kalina campus of Mumbai University, imposed on August 25, was recently lifted following intervention by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).

The move by the BMC came after the Maharashtra Navnirman Vidyarthi Sena (MNVS) issued a 24-hour warning to the university administration.

The issue came to light after the dogs on the university premises were allegedly deprived of food for several days. The university administration's decision had raised concerns over the welfare and safety of the animals.

The MNVS strongly objected to the decision and gave the university administration a clear 24-hour deadline to address the matter.

Following the MNVS's intervention, the BMC took cognisance of the matter and issued an official letter addressed to the Vice Chancellor of Mumbai University. The civic body clarified its position on allowing the feeding of dogs in accordance with applicable rules.

Soon after BMC's direction, the ban was lifted, paving the way for the 94 dogs on the university campus to receive food again.
