Nationalist Congress Party (NCP SP) leader Rohini Khadse on Friday urged Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to take up the issue of security for Cockroach Janata Party founder Abhijit Dipke with the Centre, stating that the possibility of an attack on him could not be ruled out upon his return to India, reported the PTI.
Dipke is expected to arrive in India on June 6 ahead of the CJP's planned agitation at Jantar Mantar in Delhi, where the group is demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged examination-related irregularities, the news agency reported.
In a post on social media, Rohini Khadse said the state government should ensure adequate security arrangements for Dipke.
She urged the Chief Minister to communicate with the Union government and provide necessary protection, citing potential security risks.
She claimed that Abhijit Dipke had received threats in the past due to his activism and public campaigns related to the NEET examination.
Khadse said the possibility of an attack on him could not be ruled out and called for heightened vigilance.
The NCP (SP) leader stated that Abhijit Dipke, as a citizen of Maharashtra, has the democratic right to express his views and lead public movements, as per the PTI.
She said his activism reflects concerns raised by NEET aspirants who were allegedly affected by policy-related issues.
According to Khadse, the CJP founder had previously led a youth movement focused on examination-related grievances and student concerns.
She said his campaign aimed to highlight the challenges faced by aspirants under the current examination system.
Dipke is scheduled to participate in a protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on June 6, demanding accountability over alleged examination lapses.
The event is expected to draw attention from both political groups and student organisations ahead of his arrival in India.
The CJP announced the appointment of three spokespersons ahead of the June 6 protest against failures in the education system.
Investigative journalist Saurav Das is chief CJP spokesperson, while political researcher and filmmaker Vijeta Dahiya, and former management consultant Ashutosh Ranka would represent the CJP before the public and media.
