Disha Salian's father Satish Salian and his advocate on Saturday marched to Shiv Sena (UBT) bastion Matoshree in Bandra East, to serve party MLA Aaditya Thackeray with a Rs 500-crore defamation. The notice has been fired over Thackeray's remarks on the CBI probe into Disha's death in 2020. The FIR, based on the statement given by Salian, mentions the names of several individuals, including Uddhav and Aaditya Thackeray, among others.
The notice, dated September 17, seeks an additional Rs 500 crore in damages over two posts published by Aaditya on X on September 16. The notice alleges that his posts portrayed Salian's pursuit of an investigation as politically motivated and defamatory. It seeks removal of the posts, an apology in English and Marathi, and compliance within seven days.
Salian said, "I have given the notice to the advocate of Aaditya Thackeray. I have approached the court and investigating agencies only to seek justice for my daughter. Let the investigation establish the truth." Aditya Thackeray did not respond to calls till the time of going to press. Sena (UBT) leader Akhil Chitre called the development "a circus".
