Fire breaks out in Thane apartment, damages household items and documents; no injuries reported

A fire broke out in a residential apartment in Thane on Tuesday morning, prompting a swift response from the Fire Brigade and electricity officials. No injuries were reported in the incident.

According to the Thane Municipal Corporation's Disaster Management Cell, information about the fire was received at 7:32 am on July 14. The incident occurred in Room No. 201 on the second floor of Shivdarshan Apartment, located near Sai Baba Temple in Ramchandra Nagar No. 3, Thane (West). The flat belongs to Mahesh Jadhav.

Electricity supply disconnected as firefighters contain blaze

Following the alert, personnel from the Fire Brigade and Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) rushed to the spot with one fire engine and one rescue vehicle.

As a precautionary measure, MSEDCL officials disconnected the electricity supply to the building to ensure safe firefighting operations. With the assistance of local residents, Fire Brigade personnel successfully brought the blaze under control and completely extinguished it.

Household items and documents damaged

According to Fire Brigade officials, the fire caused damage to several household items, including a sofa, a wooden cupboard, a shoe rack, and some documents kept inside the apartment.

The exact cause of the fire was not immediately known. Authorities have not reported any casualties, and further investigation into the incident is underway.

Three suffer burns as gas leak triggers fire in Mumbai

In a separate incident, three people sustained burns after a gas leak sparked a fire in a house in Mumbai's eastern suburb Mulund on Sunday evening.

According to civic officials, the incident occurred around 5.30 pm at Aman Nagar in the Khindipada area when a technician was carrying out some maintenance work.

Firefighters responded promptly and brought the blaze under control shortly after arriving at the scene.

The injured were identified as Pramila Vishwakarma (50), who suffered approximately 40 per cent burns, Aradhana Vishwakarma (24), who sustained around 20 per cent burns, and Mohammad (52), who suffered nearly 30 per cent burns.

All three victims were admitted to the civic-run Agrawal Hospital in Mulund for treatment. Authorities have launched an inquiry to determine the exact cause of the gas leak that led to the fire. Officials said further details would emerge after the investigation is completed.
