The accident occurred around 11 am on Tuesday near Tokawde in Murbad taluka when the state transport bus collided with a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV). According to police, the impact of the crash was severe, resulting in multiple casualties and injuries, reported PTI.
Officials said there were eight occupants in the SUV, including two minors. Four people died on the spot, among them the SUV owner and driver. The deceased were identified as Avinash Kakade, Abhishek Mote, Nita Dhure and Meena Madke, all residents of Ahilyanagar district, reported PTI.
The remaining four passengers sustained injuries and were admitted to different hospitals for treatment. Authorities said the condition of the injured is being monitored closely.
According to officials from Tokawde police station, a First Information Report (FIR) has been filed against the MSRTC bus driver under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Motor Vehicles Act, reported PTI.

The incident marks the second serious road accident on the same route within a month. Earlier, on April 13, a collision involving a van and a cement mixer truck in the district resulted in 11 deaths. The repeated accidents have raised concerns over road safety and traffic management in the area, reported PTI.
Police officials said efforts are underway to determine whether overspeeding, negligence, or road conditions contributed to the crash. Statements from witnesses and survivors are being recorded as part of the ongoing probe.
